Pennsylvania’s Workers’ Compensation Benefits

Workers’ compensation is a “no-fault” insurance benefit. Its intent is to provide employees with certainty that they will receive compensation for injuries and illnesses that incur at work, while providing employers with protection from personal injury lawsuits. The benefit is meant to cover injuries that result from accidents as well as repetitive injuries that occur over long periods of time. Both physical and mental illnesses, as well as occupational diseases are covered by the system. Being eligible for workers’ compensation is not dependent upon the injury being the fault of the employer. Also the coverage includes a number of different types of compensation, including:

  • Medical expenses that are needed to treat the injury or illness
  • Compensation for wages and work missed as a result of the injury or illness
  • Specific compensation for defined losses such as the loss of a limb, a digit, or the use of same
  • Specific compensation for defined disfigurements or scars
  • Payment of expenses for vocational or physical rehabilitation where appropriate
  • Death benefits including burial expenses where appropriate

The process of filing for workers’ compensation is different in each state, and in the state of Pennsylvania it is extremely complicated. It is essential that you comply with all of the requirements and deadlines, as failure to do so can impact your claim’s chances for success. (Remove this last sentence)

Though the system is designed to be non-confrontational and automatic, it is all too common for a workers’ compensation claim to be met with resistance and for the process to become adversarial. The best way for you to protect your rights and ensure that you get the benefits you deserve is to consult with an attorney that has extensive experience in representing clients in workers’ compensation cases. Call the Law Offices of Christian Petrucci as soon as possible to give yourself the best possible chance of getting the compensation that you deserve.
